FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Coverage for therapy will depend on your employers’ benefit package, as they vary in what they cover and how much reimbursement they will provide. You will need to check if the psychological services cover Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapists or a therapist that is supervised by a Psychologist. Please contact your insurance provider prior to booking a session if you intend on seeking reimbursement from your provider.

  • Each session generally runs 50 minutes, and provides your therapist with 10 minutes for documentation.

  • We understand that life can be unpredictable and changes happen. We ask that you provide no less than 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. We appreciate any advance notice that is provided, as this allows us to offer the spot to someone else waiting for an appointment. If less than 24 hours notice is provided, you may be charged for the missed session

  • Each person is different and will come to therapy with different needs. The length of the therapy experience will also depend on the clinical goals that are set with the therapist in your first few sessions.

  • The relationship between a client and a therapist should feel comfortable, organic and safe. It is important to trust your instincts when choosing a therapist, as sometimes a gut feeling can be very meaningful. Sometimes it may take a couple sessions to feel a connection; however, if you do not feel like you and the therapist is a good match, it is your right to try to find a different therapist and a better connection. If you do not feel that you can trust your therapist, the work together will not be meaningful.

    You should also choose a therapist that has expertise in the areas that meet your clinical needs. Discussing your therapy goals with your therapist will help you determine if the pairing is a good match.

  • If you are attending a virtual or telephone session, it is important to find a quiet, confidential space and be comfortable speaking at liberty in the environment. Avoid all distractions like the phone or computer and give yourself the time to commit to your session. Ensure that you will not be disturbed during the session, and feel free to bring a warm drink or some water to your session.

    If you are attending your session in person, you may consider arriving 5 minutes early if there is paperwork to fill out. In your first session your therapist will go over the consent form with you, take this opportunity to ask any questions about the documentation provided.
